Saturday night I had some friends over for appetizers and wine. As mentioned, I only recently got married so entertaining for friends is a new experience for me that I always looked forward to once I had my own place. Since moving in September we’ve entertained 5 times and usually it’s been appetizers & wine because our condo is small (but very cute!) and easier to serve because having a formal sit down meal is not something we can accommodate right now (hopefully soon enough because the Martha Stewart in me can’t wait much longer 
). I served both of the following appetizers along with rosemary parmesan crackers, focaccia and garlic bread. You can make either or depending on how much time you have and what you have on hand.
Italian Antipasto Skewers (Easy, quick & elegant): Bamboo Skewers, Bocconcini, Cherry Tomatoes, Cubed Cheddar, Prosciutto, Olives, Marinated Artichokes
QUICK TIP: Use marinated artichoke hearts, pesto bocconcini (DIY or buy prepared) & stuffed olives (garlic, peppers, blue cheese) so that the skewers have a lot of flavour with minimal fuss or effort on your part.
Crab Cakes (More Time Consuming, Impressive & Elegant): Panko (Japanese) Breadcrumbs, Eggs, Red Pepper, Dill, Green Onion, Red Onion, Garlic, Chipotle Pepper, Mayonnaise, Lemon Juice & Zest, S&P, Grape Seed Oil (for frying), Crab Meat (Pièce de résistance)
